Friends of the Library reports $1,500 in LibraryCon sales, readies Nov. 6 book sale

Kim Reesch, treasurer of the Friends of the Library, told the Pflugerville Library Board on Oct. 8 that the Friends raised roughly $1,500 at this year's LibraryCon. "This was an excellent event and we generated about as much as we contributed to sponsor Lib Con itself," Reesch said. A single signed collectible book sold for about $400, she added.
Reesch said the Friends typically do not gain many memberships from LibraryCon but recorded one new membership this year. The group is continuing the naming effort for the library's original wing for Audrey Deering and said a platting step was delayed by staff illnesses.
The Friends are preparing for the final book sale of the year on Nov. 6 and have tentatively set 2026 book-sale dates, including a Saturday sale. Reesch said the group fulfilled a request from a representative of a nearby psychiatric hospital for softcover young-adult and graphic-novel donations; the representative collected a couple of crates the week after LibraryCon.
Reesch invited board members to relay nominations for Friends officers; the Friends will present a slate in November and hold elections that month. She also said the Friends' next meeting will be Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. at the library.
