The Ithaca City Planning and Development Board voted unanimously on Oct. 28 to grant preliminary and final site-plan approval to the Grinspoon Hillel Center at Cornell, 722 University Ave.
Applicant representatives presented updated renderings and material samples (including a stone-look base treatment and terracotta/textured panel samples) and a conceptual landscape plan that shows a rain garden and planting strategy along a sloped parking area. Board members described the project as “stunning” and supported the materials, landscaping and massing presented. Chair Emily Petrino asked for a future signage package submittal so the board can review donor signage in the context of the approved materials and permitted sign area.
A roll-call vote was taken and the motion passed with yes votes from Andy Rollman, Jenny, Max Pfeffer and Chair Emily Petrino. Applicant Rabbi Ari Weiss (identified in the record) thanked the board and noted the project will provide ongoing construction updates on the project website.
What’s next: Applicant will supply a signage package for review; construction will proceed under the approved site plan.
