The councilmember said the city completed an Arbor Day proclamation in April, the street department is maintaining the city—s street-owned trees, and Parks & Recreation ran Arbor Day events that included a food truck and a giveaway of tree saplings. "We gave away tree saplings," the councilmember said.
Councilmember 2 said the benefits of Tree City USA would become clearer as the city—s master or vision plan unfolds and that staff will provide an update at an upcoming meeting. Councilmember 1 said the council expects to have Arbor Day preparations and related planning by the second meeting in early 2026 and that "Kelly will work on that again," citing Kelly—s previous role coordinating the event.
Councilmember 2 said staff also provided an educational article on preparing trees for colder weather, including pruning and root care recommendations for the local climate in southwest Ohio. The article was described as a resource for councilmembers and residents to help keep trees healthy through winter and into the growing season.
At the start of the meeting, Councilmember 1 asked for any corrections to the minutes of the previous meeting; none were offered. Councilmember 1 then said, "No. Hearing none, the minutes are approved as submitted. Yes." The council did not record a mover, seconder, or a roll-call tally for the minutes in the transcript.
