Council advances three administrative ordinances to Nov. 5 voting meeting

The Ithaca Common Council Committee of the Whole advanced three administrative items to the Nov. 5 council voting meeting.
A local administrative law to streamline electrician certification in the city was introduced and unanimously advanced for consideration at the Nov. 5 voting meeting. Alderperson Saint Perez summarized the purpose as easing certification for electricians working in the city.
The committee also advanced an ordinance amending Municipal Code chapter 170, section 10, to change the renewal date for licenses and permits to use City real property from April 1 to July 1. Alderperson Letterman said the change is intended to "ensure smoother operation of the Chamberlain's Office." Miss Matos seconded and the item carried unanimously.
Finally, council advanced a local law to amend charter section c44 to conform to adjusted New York State timelines. City staff explained the change will allow the Chamberlain's Office to issue delinquency bills sooner, giving property owners more time before foreclosure deadlines. The item will be subject to the regular roll call vote at the Nov. 5 council meeting.
