Parks & Recreation staff told the Logansport City Board of Public Works and Safety on Oct. 22 that several facility projects are underway or completed and described plans for fall and winter events.
Project updates included a driving range scheduled to open in 2026, a completed golf simulator room, a finished golf maintenance barn, ongoing cart barn roof and siding work, and delays in trail-camera installations. Staff said the Spencer Park South playground and safety surfacing were completed and that ribbon-cutting and grand-opening events drew about 50 attendees. The department reported the storage-barn replacement is under construction and the concrete floor was expected to be poured soon.
Staff reviewed seasonal event planning: Christmas in the Park is scheduled with a grand opening on Tuesday, Nov. 25, and will include Santa and a live reindeer for photos. The department plans restroom closures for the season but will attempt to keep Houston, Spencer and Riverside parks open while weather permits. For the upcoming Howl of the Moon event on Friday, staff proposed a traffic plan with special officers at key intersections, designated overflow parking, and restrictions on certain area parking lots; the board reviewed and approved the traffic plan.
Staff also said they are working with the KIPP Career Center on construction of display pieces, met with Rensselaer Parks officials for a tour and comparison of operations, and reported the golf course revenue was up for the year although rentals at city facilities are down.
