Jan (Parks staff) presented Resolution 2025-11, "A resolution of the Logansport Parks and Recreation Board amending program activity fees and facility rental fees," and said the department had not increased fees since 2024. Staff described the proposed increases as modest adjustments to cover rising costs and to align pricing with usage patterns.
Highlights discussed by the committee included: a pool rental rate presented as $200 for a two-hour block with a 30-person base for that price and additional charges for larger groups; pavilion hourly increases in some locations (example figures discussed by staff); the addition of fees for day-long reservations of courts, including pickleball and basketball court rates; and a plan to price new programs based on instructor fees, supplies, facility use and promotion. Jan said rentals were down this year and committee members discussed ways to enforce paid reservations, including receipts for renters and planned installation of kiosks or signage at high-use courts and shelters.
Committee members asked about lifeguard staffing and whether rental pricing would cover personnel costs; Jan said pool staffing levels and the manager's flat rate were used to calculate cost recovery. The committee also discussed the department's sports-programming growth and a proposed part-time sports manager to expand offerings.
Outcome: Committee voted to move Resolution 2025-11 to the full council agenda for Monday with clarifications to be added by staff. No final fee schedule was adopted at the committee meeting.
