Mark Johnson, BSU president, introduced a leadership team and described the group’s primary goal of building inclusive spaces that lead to actionable solutions. Senior Zion said the club aims to broaden participation and translate conversation into community programs. Student leaders described a successful Kicks for Cancer fundraising weekend that included events at varsity soccer games and a student ball, and reported bake sales and planned sales of club sweatshirts at local businesses as ongoing fundraising efforts.
Chris Skinner (MECO academic liaison and co‑advisor) praised the students’ leadership and growth. Students asked for assistance with outreach, offered to coordinate with community partners and noted plans for recurring fundraisers and inter‑school events to expand participation. Committee members and administrators suggested connecting BSU leaders with municipal and nonprofit resources and shared fellowship and internship opportunities.
