The Glendale City Council held a public hearing on Oct. 28 for annexation application Reams and Myrtle AN-271, an 8.5-acre site at the northwest corner of Reams Road and Myrtle Avenue. Alex Lerma, senior planner in Development Services, presented the staff report and reminded the council the item had been discussed at the Aug. 26 council workshop where council gave consensus to proceed to public hearing.
Lerma said the site is currently in unincorporated Maricopa County with a zoning classification of RU-43, which permits single-family residential uses. He said that if the property is annexed into Glendale, the likely municipal zoning match would be RU-43 (rural residential), and the applicant intends subsequently to request rezoning to a planned area development to allow industrial land uses. Access is proposed along Reams Road, which the city maintains; the site is currently vacant and is bordered on the east and south by existing industrial uses within Glendale municipal limits.
Lerma emphasized this was a public hearing to solicit feedback and that no council action was required at this meeting. The public hearing was opened and closed with no public testimony recorded on the transcript for this item.
