Glendale adopts ordinance granting water and sewer easements near 7510 N. Dysart Road

The Glendale City Council on Oct. 28 adopted Ordinance O25-44, authorizing the city to grant a combined water and sewer easement adjacent to 7510 North Dysart Road to Liberty Utilities (Litchfield Park Water and Sewer Corp.) and Valley Utilities Water Company Inc.

Georgi Pavelic, Glendale’s director of engineering, told the council the easement will allow the two utilities to install their lines within the same corridor along city-owned right-of-way and that staff had reviewed proposed easement language to avoid operational conflicts. "This installation will help ensure that new projects in the area have the proper water and sewer infrastructure to proceed," Pavelic said.

Pavelic said the easement supports the city strategic plan objective to improve asset management by ensuring utility infrastructure is properly recorded and coordinated with planned growth. The ordinance directs the city clerk to record certified copies of the ordinance with Maricopa County.

Vice Mayor Lauren Tomachoff moved to pass and adopt Ordinance O25-44 and waive further reading. The motion was put to a roll-call vote; the transcript records affirmative votes from Council members Leandro Baldenegro, Lupe Conchas, Diana Guzman, Mulder, Bart Turner and Vice Mayor Tomachoff, and the motion carried. Staff said there are no anticipated operational impacts on city departments as a result of granting the easement.

The ordinance formalizes the easement terms and establishes recordation and coordination steps with the utilities and county records to support ongoing and future development in the area.
