Lake Havasu City Council on Oct. 28 approved a construction agreement to rehabilitate the tertiary filter at the Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Utilities staff said the existing sand filter structure has experienced age-related deterioration and requires concrete repairs, a new traveling-bridge filter mechanism, new handrails, effluent plate replacements and upgraded electrical disconnects and wiring. The engineer's estimate was approximately $1.0 million; three bids were received and Scofield Civil Construction submitted the lowest responsible bid at $1,353,500.
Staff recommended the award to Scofield and recommended a six-month construction schedule, with work to begin in December 2025 and conclude by June 2026. Council approved the award by motion.
