The first amendment authorizes up to $100,000 for replacement of the roof at Indian Land Consolidated Fire District Station 2. Contractor estimates presented to council ranged from about $77,000 to $93,000; the county's insurer determined the damage was wear and tear and not covered.
The second amendment authorizes up to $600,000 from general fund unassigned balance to renovate unfinished courthouse third‑floor space to expand the solicitor's office by approximately nine offices and workspace for support staff. Staff said planning and design discussion will begin immediately.
The third amendment covers replacement of 11 field cardiac monitors for Lancaster EMS at a total purchase price of $489,331.69. One defective monitor is being replaced with federal grant funds; the remaining 11 cost was presented to council. The vendor had initially set a pricing deadline; staff reported the price was locked through December. At council direction, the funding motion was amended to allow the county to use the vendor's contract template if necessary, provided the county attorney reviews and negotiates the agreement; the council approved that amendment and then approved the amended funding motion unanimously.
Council directed staff to route the EMS contract through the county attorney for review and to continue coordinating design and procurement steps for the other projects.
