Lake Forest recognizes FFA and agricultural students for state placings and advancement to regional and national contests

District staff and coaches recognized students and teams from the Lake Forest agricultural and CTE programs Sept. 25 for strong showings at the state fair and advancement to regional and national competitions in events such as poultry judging, agronomy, dairy, and the Ag Issues contest.
The Lake Forest Board of Education recognized students and coaches from the districts agricultural and CTE programs during the Sept. 25 meeting for placements at the state fair and advancement to regional and national contests.
Mr. Butler, an agriculture instructor, thanked parents and coaches and listed notable student placings at the state fair. The district highlighted multiple teams and individuals across events: a poultry-judging team that finished second in the state with individual placings noted by staff; an agronomy team that placed second in the state and narrowly missed first place by roughly ten points; an officer team that won first place for a landscape display; and a dairy competitor who placed fourth in the dairy championship and represented the district at the Big E show.
Staff said qualifying for state opens opportunities to advance to regional competition in Springfield, Massachusetts, and from there to nationals in Indianapolis. Coaches credited student preparation, numerous practice sessions at different farms and venues, and volunteer coaching. Will Curry and other staff present named student participants and thanked parents and volunteers for their support.
The board offered public recognition and congratulated students and coaches; there was no formal action associated with the presentations.
