Rob Phillips, executive director of the Northwest Hills Council of Governments, gave a brief activity update. He said he attended the National Association of Regional Councils conference in Portland, Maine, and facilitated an AI discussion there; he said the council is exploring using AI internally and regionally to support staff work and the upcoming municipal salary survey.
Phillips said the PWEC (public works equipment consortium) auction is live and the deadline was imminent; the council will not be required to accept any particular bid if it does not meet reserve expectations. He noted the Recreational Trails program round is open and closes Dec. 18, and reminded members that the municipal salary survey work is scheduled to start Nov. 1. Phillips also reported the council had begun coordinating household hazardous waste (HHW) registration with Eventbrite and that nearly 70 people were already registered for an event.
He added that the council was assessing where it holds its accounts and would provide interest-rate and account-location details in the next month’s report; preliminary data indicated most accounts at Torrington Savings Bank and one CD at Northwest Community Bank, with investment rates around 3.9% or higher on some accounts.
