The Michigan House Insurance Committee voted 10-0 to report House Bill 4726 with a recommendation that it pass.
Committee Chair Harris called the meeting to order and the panel approved minutes from the Oct. 22 meeting by unanimous consent. The chair said the agenda included voting out House Bill 4726, introduced by Rep. Bierlein, noting the committee had heard testimony on the bill on Sept. 10.
Clerk read into the record support cards from organizations and individuals who did not wish to speak, including James Johnson of the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council; Rich Farren of the Healthcare Association of Michigan; Sharday Burton of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services; and a James Johnson listed as representing the Michigan Association of Counties. After the clerk finished reading the support cards, Rep. Aragona moved to report the bill with a recommendation that it pass; the clerk then called the roll.
On the motion to report, the following members were recorded as voting yes: Chair Harris; Rep. Tisdell; Lightner; Bostromuss; Aragona; Neier; Schutte; Carter; Tate; and Fitzgerald. The clerk announced the tally as "10 yays, 0 nays, 0 pass," and stated the motion prevailed. The chair then asked for a motion to excuse absent members; Rep. Fitzgerald moved to excuse absent members and, with no further business, the committee was adjourned.
The committee record shows the bill was reported with a recommendation to pass; no amendments, substitutes, or dissenting votes were recorded in the committee transcript provided.
