Clerk notes no indigent health care claims on current bills; possible interim routing change discussed

Near the end of the session county staff briefly addressed indigent health care claims processing.

A clerk explained that there were no indigent health care claims on the current bill list, attributing that in part to low claim volume and to the accounts payable supervisor being out of the office. The clerk said the court may consider a temporary change to move interim processing of indigent health care claims to the Indigent Health Care office while the accounts payable supervisor position is vacant; the county office would continue to review and process claims through its billing system.

Commissioners did not take immediate action; staff indicated the item would return to a future agenda for discussion when appropriate.
