City staff told the Navasota City Council that the scheduled second meetings in November (Nov. 24) and December (Dec. 22) fall during holiday weeks and suggested cancelling those individual meeting dates if council members agreed.
Staff said there were currently no items scheduled for either of those second meetings and that cancelling would consolidate business onto the first meeting of each month. Council members discussed the practicalities of cancelling holiday-week meetings and noted the city could call a special meeting if an urgent item arose.
Council members indicated consensus to cancel the second meetings in both November and December; staff said they would adjust calendars accordingly and that they would schedule special meetings if emergency business required it. City Secretary Connie was specifically noted as being given the night off in the discussion.
Because the exchange was a scheduling consensus rather than a formal, recorded vote, staff will bring any required calendar changes back to the official schedule and will post notices if special meetings are needed.
