On Oct. 28 the City of Broussard authorized the mayor to sign and submit documents necessary to accept a $3.7 million award under a state water sector program for water-system improvements, staff said.
City staff told the council the grant targets projects in the Garber Veil area and that the city has previously received other state funding for water projects. Staff noted that acceptance requires meeting a list of submittal requirements and that the city recently provided a prior rate study to the state agency to support the application. Council approved Resolution 861-25, and staff said engineering work will proceed to meet grant timelines while simultaneously advancing projects in a separate area (Halverson's water bath).
