Broussard amends budget and plans IGA for Marshall Beale Elementary sidewalk; school system to cover up to $150,000

The City of Broussard on Oct. 28 approved a resolution to amend the 02/2026 operating budget and authorized an intergovernmental agreement with the Lafayette Parish School System to build a sidewalk at Marshall Beale Elementary.
City staff said Superintendent Tusheff (Lafayette Parish School Board) committed in a letter to share 50% of the sidewalk expense up to $150,000. The council approved resolution number 858-25 to amend the operating budget to fund the city's share and then approved resolution number 859-25 authorizing execution of the IGA to formalize the cost-sharing arrangement.
Tomaway Engineering representatives and city staff said the committed school-board contribution should provide sufficient funding to complete the project as scoped. City staff said the council's next administrative step would be to authorize the mayor to sign the IGA and to proceed with the joint contract and construction procurement.
There was no public comment. Roll call by district recorded unanimous approval for both resolutions.
