The City of La Porte Redevelopment Commission voted Oct. 29 to approve a design contract with SEH not to exceed $112,000 for a Clear Lake parking lot and trail connector work.
Phillips, a city staff member, told the commission the design work will support a planned parking lot adjacent to the Pin Fusion project and the Dunes Volleyball Center and will include connector trails and improvements near Locker Drive. Phillips said the design work had been anticipated to be funded by a grant that has been delayed; to keep project commitments the city is requesting the redevelopment commission fund the design phase.
Phillips described the requested amount as a cost not to exceed $112,000 and characterized that amount as reasonable relative to the cost of the overall parking-lot project. A commissioner noted the funds may have been encumbered previously for the parking lot; Phillips confirmed the construction funding had been discussed last year.
A motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded. The commission voted 5–0 to approve the request.
The authorization allows staff to execute a contract with SEH for engineering and design services up to the approved amount.
