Lebanon Board of Works approves event and construction closures, park path contract and two subdivision plats

The Lebanon Board of Works on Oct. 27 approved multiple routine administrative items by voice vote, including a downtown street closure for the Lebanon First Giving community event, a temporary construction closure requested by Beazer Homes, the award of a contract for the Abner Longley Park perimeter path to Ace Paving LLC, and acceptance of secondary plats for Corbett Towns and Hickory Junction subject to posting of required sureties.
The board voted to close State Road 32/South Street to Main Street on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., to host Lebanon First Giving at the Lebanon Police Department site. Joel Page of the communications and community development office said the free, Thanksgiving-themed event will include crafts, refreshments, photo opportunities and distribution of branded gloves, hats, shirts and socks. The board approved the closure by motion and voice vote.
Public works staff presented a temporary road closure request from Beazer Homes for the Spring Creek subdivision to allow placement of water and sewer crossings on 300 North (east of State Road 39). The closure is scheduled for Nov. 17–21. The board approved the request.
The board reviewed digitally opened bids for the Abner Longley Park perimeter path. Kevin Krolick, engineering department, reported Ace Paving LLC was the low, responsive bidder at $417,425. The board approved issuing a notice of award to Ace Paving LLC and to issue a notice to proceed when appropriate. Krolick said the project came in significantly under budget and that staff is considering additional fencing and lighting work.
Engineering recommended acceptance of the Corbett Towns secondary plat and associated public-rights-of-way dedications, subject to administrative review and posting of the required sureties; the board approved the recommendation. The board likewise approved the Hickory Junction secondary plat subject to posting sureties and added that planning and engineering will work with the mayor's office to develop final street names before the plat is released for recording.
The board approved claims and adjourned; the next Board of Works meeting is scheduled for Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
