ASCE Symposium organizers seek sponsors, volunteers for March 2026 event in Tuscaloosa

Organizers of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Symposium at the University of Alabama asked the Tuscaloosa City Council for sponsorships, volunteers, caterers and local vendor support for a March 2026 event expected to bring more than 300 students from about 15 universities.
Gracie Vaughn, chair of the ASCE Symposium, told the council the University of Alabama will host the American Society of Civil Engineers regional symposium in March 2026 and expects more than 300 civil-engineering students from roughly 15 universities.
—We'll be hosting over 300 different civil engineering students in 15 different universities here in Tuscaloosa, so it's a really major event,' Vaughn said, outlining competitions, networking and professional development sessions and asking the city to help by connecting sponsors, volunteers, caterers and local vendors.
Vaughn said the organizing committee has secured about five to 10 corporate sponsorships so far and listed sponsorship tiers, volunteer roles and vendor opportunities. She asked the clerk to provide a PDF of the presentation to the city engineer's office; the clerk said staff would do so and that the city engineer's office might be favorable to assistance.
The council took no formal action on the request during the meeting; Vaughn asked that interested parties contact her via the ASCE email address provided in the presentation.
