Belton approves fleet-management agreement, plans initial replacement of three vehicles

The Belton City Council approved Resolution 2025-083 to authorize an agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management to manage the city's vehicle lease program.

City staff described an initial fiscal-year plan to place three vehicles on the lease program: a lower-chassis replacement for the senior-center minivan, an additional vehicle so two neighborhood improvement officers do not have to share one car, and a vehicle for building inspections to reduce reliance on staff personal vehicles. Staff said the existing minivan would be sold because maintenance costs had risen; economic development would instead use a planner vehicle and share it with planning staff.

Staff also told council the plan foresees adding roughly six more vehicles in the next fiscal year, subject to budget deliberations. The council asked clarifying questions about which vehicles were replacements and which were additions; staff confirmed that only the senior-center van is a replacement in the current round and the other two vehicles are additions.

Council approved the resolution by voice vote. The motion carried.
