Board members asked for a fuller report on transportation staffing and route safety, citing driver vacancies, double routes (when one driver covers two runs), and the location and safety of stops.
Doctor Tim Merrick and David Perry pressed for a count of open bus-driver positions and the number of routes currently operating as double runs. Trustees also asked whether the district had evaluated stops located on busy intersections and whether the routing team routinely moves stops based on feedback. Transportation staff said they maintain route reviews and can provide a one-page data summary and suggested a 10-minute agenda block for the discussion.
Miss Barnhart said the intent of the update is to show where gaps exist, the district’s goals for driver staffing, current incentive programs, and how the bus app is performing. Staff agreed to provide data showing where double runs remain, current open positions, and recent stop adjustments.
