The City Planning Commission approved routine consent business and a separate zoning request after public comment.
On the consent agenda, staff recommended and the commission approved item 2 (final plat for Countess Subdivision) and two rezoning cases (items 5 and 6). Staff said the Countess Subdivision plat met the terms of the Texas Local Government Code and the Unified Development Code. For item 5 (case ZN8885 at 5113 Larkade Avenue), staff described the request as a special permit to allow additional parking and screening for a small business; aerial imagery indicates the lot is currently vacant. Item 6 (case ZN8910 at 3202 East Causeway Boulevard) was a rezoning request from CR-1 to RMAT for a single-family home; staff recommended approval.
Commissioners approved items 2, 5 and 6 on a single motion and voice vote.
Item 4 (case ZN8874, Pasadena Land Holdings, 7801 Wooldridge Road) requested rezoning from FR (farm/rural) to RS-4.5 (single-family). Staff recommended approval. Neighbors spoke during public comment expressing concern about increased traffic and the pace of buildout; project engineer Jerry Benavides said the filing is phase 1 of a larger single-family subdivision and that phasing and regional detention for subsequent phases explain the parcel’s irregular shape. The commission approved item 4 as presented; Commissioner Ed Cantu was recorded earlier as abstaining from that item.
The commission also approved procedural items including a motion to approve an absence for Commissioner Taifkeefe and minutes from the Oct. 15 meeting. At the end of the meeting the director reported a resignation from Commissioner Taifke; no reason was given.
