Virginia City issues proclamation honoring Rock Ridge girls tennis state champions

The Virginia City Council issued a formal proclamation Oct. 28 recognizing the Rock Ridge girls tennis team for winning the 2025 Class 2A state championship.
The proclamation, read by the mayor at the start of the 5:30 p.m. meeting, listed the athletes and coaches and said their achievement brought "pride and distinction to Rockridge High School and the entire Rockridge community." Coach Courtney Rosati, accepting the proclamation, thanked the council for the indoor facility and credited year-round practice with the team's success. "If it weren't for the indoors, we don't know if we would be where we were today," Rosati said (Courtney Rosati, coach).
Players who spoke after the presentation highlighted community support at the state tournament. "Every time I looked out into the audience I saw a new face," junior Emmy Peterson told the council, describing the support at State (Emmy Peterson, student-athlete). Council members said the city would display a banner and light the City Hall cupola in school colors to mark the honor.
The council then moved on to its regular agenda.
