Board approves Juneteenth MOU, Hibbing targeted‑services agreement, fee waivers and routine consent items

The Cloquet Public School District board approved several consent and new-business items on Oct. 27, including a Juneteenth memorandum of understanding, a targeted‑services agreement with Hibbing (ISD 701), a facilities-fee waiver for a community public-health event, and routine claims and minutes.

Juneteenth MOU: Board members noted the state designated Juneteenth as a formal holiday in 2023 and that the district needed to update missing language in some contracts. The board approved a memorandum of understanding recognizing the holiday and adding it to the district’s agreements where required.

Hibbing targeted services: Administrators explained Hibbing does not operate its own ALC (alternative learning center) and must contract through a partner district. Hibbing will operate targeted services while Cloquet handles the state-level reporting; Hibbing compensates the district for the reporting. The board approved continuing the arrangement.

Community event fee waiver: Representatives of several community groups, including Community Memorial Hospital, requested waiver of the high-school auditorium and cafeteria fees for a planned public-health event. The board approved the waiver.

Routine approvals: The board approved claims for Oct. 10 and Oct. 21, 2025, and approved the Oct. 13, 2025 school board minutes. Several personnel items and position postings were also included on the consent agenda.

What happens next: Staff will finalize the agreements and process payments/waivers as approved; administrators will continue tracking targeted-services reporting and community-event logistics.
