District police report suspect in custody for campus break-ins; board to explore security upgrades

Plainview ' In closing remarks at Thursday's Plainview ISD board meeting, district leaders told trustees that a suspect is in custody in connection with a series of break-ins at district campuses.
Board members thanked the community for vigilance and said district police will continue to monitor campuses. Staff reported that Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel will walk campuses this weekend to assess security needs and that the district may bring future agenda items proposing motion-detection and other enhanced security measures for board consideration.
Trustees said the district is reviewing options to shorten the time an intruder can remain on campus and to improve detection and response. The meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
