Turf Board approves July minutes, vendor claims and 2026 meeting schedule; discusses payment authority when quorum lacking

The Lafayette City Turf Board on Oct. 28 moved and seconded to approve the minutes from its July 22 meeting and approved vendor claims read at the meeting. The clerk read vendor amounts for Cara Mita ($13,517.07 and $14,330.94), Caramida ($7,824.20), Stewart and Bridal ($1,600), Stewart and Branigan ($3,000) and Waste Management ($15,496.84).

The board then reviewed a proposed meeting schedule included in the meeting packet and, after a motion and second, voted to accept the schedule as presented.

Members discussed a recurring procedural problem when the board lacks a quorum: bills can be delayed for months and vendors grow frustrated. Tony and others recommended preparing an annual budget or delegating limited authority so that routine payments can be made between meetings and then ratified by the board. Vicky recalled that the board previously delegated authority to approve certain expenditures up to $10,000 but noted that such delegation did not extend to paying the vendor claims themselves.

The meeting concluded after brief public comments and a motion to adjourn.
