Public Works staff briefed the board on Oct. 7 about repairs to a County 1 traffic signal damaged when the signal assembly rotated from its base.
Staff said the pedestal was deemed unsafe after the signal "had spun at almost a 45 degree angle from its original location." Repair steps include taking down the damaged signal elements, removing the pedestal, pouring a new concrete base, blasting and repainting parts and reinstalling the system. Staff said parts for an attached streetlight are on backorder for several weeks and that some reinstallation work may be deferred until winter.
Insurance is involved; staff said they had worked with insurers to follow a process that could recover some repair costs. They awarded a quote to Eagan Companies and planned concrete sidewalk removals immediately, with Eagan available early next week to start work.
The board heard the schedule and acknowledged potential follow‑up work and weather constraints; staff said they will coordinate repairs and insurance recovery.
