Isanti County approves three preliminary plats, schedules public hearing on rezoning, and okays lake shore short‑term rental with conditions

The board approved a preliminary plat for J & P Acres in Stanchfield Township (three lots; lots meet agriculture‑residential district minimums; a shared driveway agreement must be recorded), following the planning commission’s recommendation and a township approval conditioned on a recorded shared‑driveway agreement.
The board also approved Springer Woodlands (North Branch Township) and Lilienthal Addition (Bradford Township) preliminary plats; staff reported soil borings were completed and townships had no objections. For the Lilienthal Addition, MnDOT noted no new access to State Highway 47 without MnDOT approval; staff said no new access is planned.
On a separate request, Trina Bergla presented a rezoning application from Ab Huron LLC seeking to rezone a northern portion of a 70.22‑acre parcel in Isanti Township from Agriculture‑Residential to Business. The planning commission recommended approval with three findings; the board set a public hearing for Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m.
The board approved a short‑term rental application for a 5,300‑square‑foot house on North Stanchfield Lake (five bedrooms, up to 12 guests) with 18 conditions and five supporting findings. Staff confirmed the septic system had been inspected, required repairs completed, and the parcel met the shoreland impervious‑surface standard.
Other planning items: two conditional/ interim use permit requests were tabled to the Dec. 11 Planning Commission meeting, and the planning commission’s recommendation that a subcommittee review the rural tourism ordinance was agreed to by the board.
Township reimbursement: Spencer Brook submitted receipts for a community cleanup day; the board approved a $1,000 SCORE reimbursement (standard amount) rather than the $740.69 listed in the packet based on submitted receipts totaling $1,749.69.
Next steps: the board will hold the public hearing on the rezoning item on Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m.; applicants for the preliminary plats will proceed with final‑plat requirements including recorded driveway/access agreements where required.
