Hennepin County to negotiate Metro Council funding for Blue and Green Line extension project staff

Hennepin County's Public Works Committee on Oct. 21 approved negotiations for subordinate funding agreements with the Metropolitan Council to provide project staff services for the Metro Blue Line Extension and the Metro Green Line Extension.
Under the approvals, staff will negotiate a subordinate funding agreement for Metro Blue Line Extension project staff for the period Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, with an estimated receivable of just over $1,400,000. The county will also negotiate an agreement for Metro Green Line Extension staff services for the same period with an estimated receivable of $231,277.
Commissioners described the items as both routine and significant. One commissioner said, "Getting money from the Met Council for our staff is always welcome." Others noted the regional importance of maintaining county staff on project teams to ensure county interests are represented and projects are run efficiently. The committee approved both actions by voice vote.
