Isanti County adopts bridge priority list to pursue MnDOT replacement funding

Justin Ferguson, county highway staff, described the county's local bridge inventory and condition ratings used to develop a prioritized list for the state's local-bridge replacement program. Ferguson said one structure, a timber bridge on CSAH 4 in Maple Ridge Township, is load-posted and showing signs of deterioration. Another listed bridge, CSAH 10 (structure 30508), spans the Rum River near the St. Francis/Isanti County border and shows weathering on steel elements and deck deterioration.
Ferguson presented photographs, inspection-based condition notes and estimated project costs. He said the list is primarily a planning tool: proposed construction years and final funding depend on available state funds and future condition updates. He recommended adopting resolution 25-13-8 and authorizing the highway department to submit the prioritized list to MnDOT.
Commissioners adopted the resolution by motion, with no recorded opposition. The action places the specified structures on Isanti County's prioritized list for local-bridge replacement bond consideration.
The county noted ongoing maintenance activity on the listed bridges, including deck patching and targeted repairs, and said routine inspections inform the priority ranking. The resolution does not itself authorize construction; it is intended to position the county for state funding opportunities and long-range planning.
