Ramsey County issues proclamation for Disability Employment Awareness Month; honors multiple employees

Commissioner McPherson introduced the proclamation, noting the county’s commitment to “remove barriers, providing accommodations and fostering belonging” for people with disabilities. The proclamation calls on employers across the county to recognize contributions from employees with disabilities.
Tobias Lyam, a financial specialist in Financial Services, received an employee achievement award in the category of excellent job performance. In presenting the award, a supervisor praised Lyam’s training support for new financial workers and his willingness to carve out time for trainees. Lyam thanked coworkers and community partners and reflected on his 35-plus years with the county.
Deputy Director David Triplett of Property Tax Records and Election Services was recognized for leadership in elections and for managing additional duties in taxpayer services and vital records. Tracy West, director of Property Tax Records and Election Services, introduced Triplett and highlighted his calm planning and crisis management during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Tracy Jones, program supervisor at Mothers First in Social Services, received an award for program leadership, including expanding services to mothers of children up to three years old, organizing diaper drives that distributed more than 70,000 diapers, and certifying peer recovery specialists as part of program work.
Remarks during the presentations emphasized the value of inclusive workplaces and the county’s gratitude for employees’ public service. The proclamations and awards were presented as recognition; no formal board vote was recorded for the proclamations.
