The Faribault Public School District board adopted a revised mission statement at its Oct. 27 meeting after returning a previously tabled second reading to the agenda.
Superintendent Venti presented a proposed statement developed through prior sessions and a community survey. The adopted text reads in part that the district "partners with families and the community to educate, elevate, and empower every student to achieve their full potential every Falcon every day." The board discussed outreach and survey participation; Director Linda Moore said limited distribution of the survey and uncertain public access were reasons for her opposition. The motion to adopt the mission statement passed 6'1.
Board members who supported the statement said sessions produced constructive compromise language and emphasized the district's role in representing community perspectives.
