Yellowstone County commissioners refer multiple bids to staff, approve claims and consent agenda

The Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners opened several public-works bids Oct. 28 and voted to refer them to staff for recommendation while approving routine claims and the consent agenda.
At about 9:03 a.m. the board opened bids for a new wheel loader for Public Works. Bidders and the lump-sum amounts reported at the meeting were RDO ($458,500), Torgersen's (reported lump sum $411,448; a net cost figure discussed was $196,000) and Tri State ($548,400). Each bid included a bid bond, and commissioners moved, seconded and approved referring the wheel-loader bids to staff for recommendation back to the board. The motion was made and seconded on the record; the board approved the referral by voice vote.
The board next opened bids for bottom-dump trailers. RDO submitted a lump-sum bid of $150,000 with a trade-in value of $59,000 (net $91,000). Torgersen's submitted a lump-sum bid of $150,633 with a trade-in value of $63,150 (net $87,003). Commissioners moved and seconded to refer the trailer bids to staff for recommendation; the referral was approved by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the board opened bids for the Cedar Hall renovation. Bidders and amounts reported at the meeting included Cucanec Construction ($535,007), Yellowstone Basin ($621,200), R Taylor ($778,006), Jackson Group (about $773,000.85), Langless ($825,380), TW Ridley ($816,890) and Swank Construction ($971,004.57). Each bid included a bid bond where noted. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved referring the Cedar Hall renovation bids to staff for recommendation.
On non-procurement business, a commissioner moved to approve claims batches 26051, 26052 and 26053; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board then moved to approve the consent agenda and place the file items on file; that motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Chair officials called for public comment on county business three times and, hearing none, adjourned the meeting.
