County staff finish Walking Montana challenge; program awards prizes to employees

Yellowstone County held its Walking Montana final prize drawing during the Oct. 14 commission meeting. Organizers said the program challenged employees to walk 300 miles in three months; those who completed the goal were entered in the final drawing.
Lindy, who presented the program to the commissioners, said the program has run since 2008 and that 64 percent of participants finished the program this year, an 8 percent increase from the prior year. Organizers reported a total of 22,836 miles walked by participants. Lindy and staff then conducted a prize drawing; winners received items including Visa gift cards, power stations, emergency kits and other donated prizes. Organizers listed program sponsors as Intermountain Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, Marsh McLennan Agency, MetroPark and Alliant Benefits Group.
