District staff told the board that site work for the PK–8 project is ongoing and that crews encountered bedrock on the north end of the site that will require additional excavation. The south end currently has an active detention pond excavation that is part of required EPA site work, staff said.
Bids for construction documents were released yesterday, staff said, and district officials expect bids to arrive in the coming weeks. Staff described a standard bid-review process, including a public posting period and follow-up interviews to ensure proposals are complete before award. The district said it hopes to have clearer budgeting information before the end of the year.
The board and staff confirmed the PK–8 building completion remains scheduled for December 2027. Staff added that portions of the project must comply with U.S. Department of Agriculture requirements and district core policy 8500, which governs food-service operations and affects some site decisions.
No formal vote was taken on the PK–8 schedule or contracts during the meeting.
