Council confirms majority vote winners to boards and commissions, approves consent items

The City Clerk read the ballot tallies for applicants to a number of boards and commissions. For each vacancy the clerk announced vote counts and identified the majority vote getters; the council then moved and approved the slate of majority winners by roll call.

Among the appointments the clerk announced: appointments to the Alexandria Sister City Committee (Stephen Hartke and Leslie Torangi as majority vote getters as read), Andrew Scott to the Board of Architectural Review (majority vote getter), Constance Swart to the Carlisle Eisenhower East Design Review Board, Shelley Brown to the Commission for Women, Kathy Hoekstra and Philip Mobilia to the Environmental Policy Commission, John Thompson to the Human Rights Commission, Lawrence Lewis to the Independent Community Policing Review Board, and youth representatives Eli Fatellab and Cooper Hughes to the Park and Recreation Commission. The clerk read ballot tallies and identified majority winners for several additional commissions; the council moved to approve the appointments and passed the motion by roll call (motion by Councilman McPike; second by Councilman Chapman). The clerk recorded unanimous ayes on the roll call.

After appointments the council took up the action docket: a motion to approve roll‑call consent items 10 through 17 was made by Councilman Aguirre and seconded by Vice Mayor Bagley; the clerk called the roll and recorded unanimous ayes. The council then approved the city council schedule by motion and adjourned the meeting following motions and votes.
