County awards Parkersburg Road contract; Eckert and Clarysville users face $1.38 monthly rate increase

The Allegany County Board of Commissioners approved a contract to replace about 700 feet of damaged pipe on Old Parkersburg Road and authorized the work to begin immediately, with construction slated to start the following Monday.

Public works staff said multiple breaks in the short section of pipe have caused private property damage and that contractors were not available during the summer months. After soliciting bids, staff reported receiving a competitive bid from Excavating Associates and recommended awarding the contract.

Staff said the cost of the project will be repaid by users of the Eckert and Clarysville Water System through a calculated rate increase of $1.38 per month, effective next July for the two districts. "These rate increases would be effective next July for these two districts," the presenter said.

Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the contract award by voice vote.
