Humboldt County board appoints Jody Anderson as student representative

A board member explained that the district had intended to use an application and interview process but that, because Anderson was the only applicant, trustees agreed to appoint her without a longer process.
Trustees encouraged Anderson to observe meetings and participate in district activities; board members presented her with a plaque and urged her to use the seat to elevate student concerns.
The appointment was made by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The board expects to consider ways to broaden the application pool in future cycles.
