The administrator said Jackson Street sidewalk construction is scheduled to begin tomorrow, with public-works estimates of about five weeks for work assuming normal weather. Staff said notices of a utility rate hearing were included in customer bills and that the public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 8; the administrator said a work study session will present detailed infrastructure drivers for the rate proposal.
On unfinished business the board asked for an update on the city’s water towers. The administrator said the project is being deferred to next year because costs have risen since the current budget was set. Staff said $135,000 had been budgeted for the current year but that the interior work is the priority. At the meeting staff discussed interior work estimates near $200,000 and exterior work estimates near $300,000; the administrator described those numbers as part of a broader capital discussion and said the board will review a fuller capital-cost presentation in a work session.
Speakers at this portion of the meeting included the city administrator and staff who referenced OCAC and public-works personnel. The administrator asked staff to bring visual materials and cost breakdowns to the work-study session to help residents and the board understand infrastructure needs.
