Board directs staff to develop quarterly resident mailer and return with bids
Summary
City staff proposed a quarterly mailed newsletter to reach residents not on social media; one quote estimated $3,000 per quarter for a 4-page mailer and $4,500 for an 8-page edition. The board voted to have staff obtain additional bids and return with more detailed cost and content plans.

City staff proposed a quarterly mailed newsletter to every household as a way to improve outreach to residents who do not rely on social media.
Dustin Ziebold, acting city administrator and finance director, said the packet included a mock-up produced by parks staff and that the city had obtained one printing-and-mailing quote: about $3,000 per quarter for a four-page mailer and approximately $4,500 per quarter for an eight-page option. "So you're looking at a maximum of about 12,000 per year" for the four-page option, he said, and added staff expected to obtain better quotes.
Staff proposed that Allison in parks and other department heads help produce content tailored to season (for example, winter driving information from the police chief and summer program listings from parks). Board members supported the concept, requested multiple bids and asked staff to return with additional pricing and recommended page counts.
A motion to move forward to gather more information passed by voice vote; staff will return with additional vendor quotes, content plans and pricing for the board's consideration before final approval.
