Prattville —The Prattville City Council adopted a resolution Nov. 3 establishing procedures and criteria for assembling council meeting agendas and agenda packets for the 20251029 term.
Council member Eric introduced the resolution by title. During debate Councilor Thea Barnes Langley proposed an amendment clarifying that a council member may object to a procedural violation and that, where the failure to object is a waiver, the council still has the opportunity prior to approval of minutes at the following session to remedy any procedural issues. The council accepted revised wording suggested by the city attorney to use "legislative body" instead of "parliamentary" and approved the amendment. The resolution passed by raised hands.
The resolution as adopted requires the clerk and staff to follow the stated procedures when preparing agenda packets and gives council members a process for raising objections to violations before final minute approval. The city clerk will file the resolution and updated packet procedures with the official records and make them available to council members and the public.
