Votes at a glance: Booneville approves appropriations, water agreement and appointments; rejects sewer I&I bids

The Booneville City Council on Oct. 6 took several formal actions summarized below.

Ordinance appropriating money — Approved An ordinance to appropriate $771,490.34 to cover salaries and approved accounts was read and put to a vote. Alliance Water Resources agreement (Bill 2025-022) — Approved (second reading) A renewal professional-services agreement with Alliance Water Resources for management, operations and maintenance of the Booneville water treatment plant was approved by roll call.

Rejection of I&I sewer bids — Motion approved Staff recommended rejecting the current bids for an inflow-and-infiltration (I&I) sewer project after received prices came in significantly higher than estimates and because the project scope is small, making per-unit production costs high. Council moved and seconded a motion to reject the bids and rebid a larger project in the next fiscal year to seek better pricing. Roll call recorded unanimous 'Yes' votes and the motion passed.

Appointment to Booneville Housing Authority Board — Approved The council appointed Pickett Kearney to the Booneville Housing Authority Board by motion and roll-call vote.

Depository bank agreement (Bill 2025-024) — First reading only A first reading was held on an ordinance approving a depository agreement with BTC Bank (and complimentary pledge/custodial agreement). Council indicated it was not ready to act on the ordinance at this meeting; no final vote was taken.
