Tollway highlights cybersecurity month, staff and program awards at Oct. 22 meeting

Chairman Rivera and IT staff observed National Cybersecurity Awareness Month at the Oct. 22 board meeting. Deputy Chief Kavidi Kikima reviewed core cybersecurity practices — watch for phishing, use secure networks, apply updates, and participate in training — and reminded employees that the Tollway is considered critical infrastructure.
The board also highlighted several awards and recognitions: the Tollway's diversity advisory council received the IBTTA Outreach Opportunity and Engagement Award; the agency's transitional duty program received IBTTA's Total Excellence Award in administration and finance for workforce reintegration; the Tollway earned a perpetual pavement by-design award from the Asphalt Pavement Association for a 14.1-mile section of I‑90; ITS Midwest named the Tollway agency of the year for continuous technology investment; and agency staff (Jeff Allen and Ahmad Nafatsa) were announced as upcoming recipients of awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Board members praised the cybersecurity team and recognized staff who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The meeting included a short public comment and a planned group photo recognizing veterans.
