Tollway's Office of Inspector General summarizes investigations and referrals in semiannual report

The Office of Inspector General delivered its semiannual report summarizing investigations, referrals and recommended management actions across a range of matters, including PA system installation defects and employee misconduct.
The Office of Inspector General presented its semiannual report for the six-month period beginning March 1, 2025, summarizing incoming hotline and online reports, investigations, referrals to management and law enforcement, and the disposition of OIG recommendations.
The OIG said it received 68 hotline calls and 60 online submissions during the period and opened or handled 161 new matters. The OIG summarized four investigative reports: two involving deficiencies in building system closeout and PA system acceptance at two Tollway sites and recommended standardized closeout procedures; one investigation that led to review and subsequent termination of an employee for vehicle-use and related policy violations; an arrest-reporting matter prompting recommendations to require better court disposition tracking and an electronic reporting method; and an investigation that found a customer service representative misused intermittent FMLA, resulting in resignation and do-not-hire placement. The OIG reported management referrals and recommended supervisory and training follow-ups in areas such as outside-employment disclosures and vehicle-monitoring systems.
The OIG reported that the Tollway responded timely to recommendations and that many management actions were underway or complete, including updated procedures for facility closeouts, ethics communications, and additional vehicle-monitoring training.
