The Board of Aldermen adopted an administrative budget amendment (ordinance 3746) to adjust the operating budget for 2025 to reflect anticipated reimbursements under a GMT ambulance reimbursement program.
Jeremy (staff member) explained the amendment arises from a reimbursement arrangement for ambulance runs that serve Medicaid patients. He said participating in the program requires the city to incur ambulance-call expenses that are then reimbursed at levels that, according to the program analysis, will increase the city’s recorded revenue and expenditures. In describing the program, Jeremy said it “feels a little bit pay to play” but that the effect is an offsetting revenue to account for earlier run numbers.
A motion to suspend the rules and move the ordinance to second reading passed on a roll-call vote. The board then held the second reading and adopted the ordinance; roll call showed the ayes and gave the item final ordinance number 3746.
