The committee unanimously adopted a resolution to apply for and accept a $96,283.92 state cybersecurity grant from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs to implement multifactor authentication for 911 dispatchers.
"This grant funding will be used to implement multifactor authentication using employee ID badges for 911 dispatchers primarily and others if funding allows," David Henke, chief information officer for the Information and Technology Management Division, told the committee. He said the project would increase security and help meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements while aiming to preserve a seamless login experience for dispatch staff.
Henke said the project could be completed later this year or early next year pending grant approval. Alderwoman Miley Lea Coggs moved adoption and there were no objections from committee members.
