Kodiak Island Borough Assembly: ordinances, contracts and records-retention changes approved unanimously

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly on Aug. 21 unanimously approved a package of ordinances, contracts and a records-retention revision that borough staff said will streamline operations and support capital and regulatory requirements.

Among the formal actions, the assembly adopted an amendment to Title 17 to add assisted-living facilities to more residential and commercial districts and update parking requirements; adopted an amendment to borough tax code definitions to align the borough—s residency standard with the 185-day figure used for senior and disabled-veteran exemptions; authorized a $74,120 contract for surface-water monitoring and reporting; approved a $75,000 annual contract with the Kodiak Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (doing business as Discover Kodiak) for destination marketing; adopted a resolution updating the borough records-retention schedule and electronic storage procedures; advanced an ordinance that aligns Board of Equalization procedures with Senate Bill 179 to a public hearing; and voted to voice a local protest to the Alaska Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) over a wholesale-license renewal application for Southern Glazers of Alaska LLC (license #4860), directing the clerk to notify the applicant so it may respond at a future…
