Parks and Recreation staff told the council that Harvest Fest (Oct. 25) drew an estimated 350–400 people and that the city will review final participation and financial figures with the Parks & Recreation Commission. Staff said soccer registrations are wrapping up and that a People’s Choice showing of the film E.T. is planned for Nov. 7 at 5 Oaks.
Staff also reminded the council of the Coffee with the Mayor event on Nov. 12 featuring Turkey Trot committee members and partners including Jewish Family Services; proceeds from the Turkey Trot (Thanksgiving morning) will benefit Jewish Family Services. Staff emphasized a current food drive at City Center and 5 Oaks and said agencies are seeing people who have not needed help in a long time due to federal furloughs and labor actions.
Council members volunteered to assist with the Turkey Trot and noted plans to present a check to the pantry after the race. Parks staff said they will provide final Harvest Fest numbers to the commission and that they are studying membership reporting practices — including separating employer‑sponsored 'active renew' participants from residents for clearer counts.
